Clinical governance: An opportunity for nurses to influence the future of healthcare developmentThe Leicester Royal Infirmary and De Montfort University, Leicester This paper highlights the key issues and components of clinical governance and offers discussion on the implications for nurses and nursing. The key challenges for the profession in meeting this new change agenda are discussed, together with the approach taken by one organisation. The need for nursing to develop methodological approaches within its research agenda which have an impact on clinical effectiveness is highlighted.
